Pastor Lex & Phyllisia Akers - Senior Pastor

Our senior pastor Rev. Lex Akers grew up in the highlands of PNG as the son of missionary parents Ray and Gwen Akers. When he returned to Australia he followed his father to various church pastorates, and developed a ministry calling that began with leading youth and young adults groups on the local, district and national levels. In 1999 he helped plant Riverside Community Church with Rev. Troy Beer. Five years ago he was elected as the District Superintendent of the South Queensland District of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. He is currently studying for his Doctor of Ministry.

Lex is married to Phyllisia and has four children. His passion is problem solving, change management and discipleship.

Pastor Robbyn Bell - Family Support Counsellor and Pastoral Care

Robbyn is our qualified counsellor and family therapist. Robbyn and Greg have been involved for 23 years in children’s ministry with Greg being a children’s pastor in a large church.

They have been married for 40 years and have 2 wonderful sons and 3 beautiful grandchildren. They love God, love people and love life.

Nathan Bell - Pastoral Assistant

Nathan Bell (no relation to Robbyn) is the Pastoral Assistant at Hills Church.  Nathan is married to his gorgeous wife Shelley and has two beautiful girls Rachael and Natasha.  Nathan has been attending Hills Church since its inception nearly 30 years ago (apart from a 2 year period when Nathan and Shelley were part of the City Wesleyan church plant in New Farm) and has served in many ministry roles over the years. 

In 2010 Nathan resigned from his management position with an IT company to join the team at Hills Church on a full time basis.
